I recently increased my awareness of the importance and appreciation of wedding and family photographs. Last week I visited my Grandmother in Laurel, Maryland who will be 99 next March! She is currently living in an assisted living community and fortunately is visited frequently by my relatives who live close by. She basically had two things in her room, an organ which she is fond of playing and dozens of photo albums spanning momentous occasions to simple day to day life of our relatives from as far back as two centuries! Sitting for hours with her, my mom, my aunt and uncle perusing the pictures and hearing the stories behind those pictures I realize the responsibility that I have as wedding photographer and am happy that I can share these special occasions with so many couples.

Light, light and more light! There was light in the eyes of each of all those attending, light in the meticulous planning of all of the details of the day and the most bright light of the connection between Aamna and Sean. It also helped that the physical light at the Catherdral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark, New Jersey and the reception at Naninas in the Park was amazing. I was honored to capture the light along side Julia Newman.

Last week I shot an Davina and Bobby’s incredible wedding in Mineola, Long Island along side Punam Bean… I have been wanting to show all of you some of the amazing moments and intimate details of the day so here are a few for you to enjoy.

Jill & Josh and I shot in the later afternoon in Hoboken. It was a perfect fall day, the air was crisp and comfortable and the light was amazing! Our journey took us to the 11th Street waterfront, the hutches of Bloomfield Street and a little cobblestones street between Washington and Hudson streets.

I had the opportunity to visit paradise and soak up the sights of Xpu Ha Mexico. Playa Al Cielo (Heavenly beach) is one of the most amazingly simple yet beautiful places I’ve ever been. Check out the Al Cielo Hotel for great food, crashing azzuri waves and a slice of heaven. Xpu Ha is located between Playa del Carmen and Tulum on the Riveria Maya.

I had the wonderful opportunity this weekend to work with the great crew at Caru salon in Hoboken. Rachel and Meg did an incredible job with hair and makeup on Christine and her bridesmaids who were off to the Liberty House for the ceremony. Caru offers packages for full service bridal hair and makeup topped off with refreshments and massages!!!

8-29-08- Tiffany readied at the fabulously classy Glen Clove mansion on Long Island where the ceremony and reception took place. A measure of light rain for good luck couldn’t dampen the spirits and the couple exchanged vows with a touching Christian and Hindi ceremony. The cocktail hour and reception was staged around the mansion’s pool and elegant chatter continued throughout the night as the couple mingled with guests. I had the pleasure of working along side friends Steven Young and Tak Lam of STAK Images.

There are many ingredients that go into a beautiful wedding and for Jean-Marie and Chris’s wedding it all began with a capital L: Lavender, Laughter, Lights and Love.
The intimate ceremony commenced at the Inn at the Blue on the North Fork of Long Island but not before we had chance to catch a few images in the adjacent Lavender by the Bay, with incredibly brilliant and fragrantly blooming lavender. I once again had the wonderful opportunity to work with Julia Newman.

Shooting a couples wedding is always an amazing experience. But when the location, weather and connection between two people is so clear and vibrant it could only be Jonathan and Karen’s wedding! Jonathan and Karen prepared at the Four Seasons Hotel, we then headed to the Meat Packing district for family photo’s and informal couple shots and then departed on the Atlantis yacht for the sunlit ceremony and reception circling Manhattan. I had the pleasure of working with friends and amazingly accomplished photographers Julia Newman and Steve Young.
