I was really excited to photograph Dana & Rahul’s wedding! If there is any wedding that exemplifies New York City (or the USA for that matter) it is Dana & Rahul’s quintessential New York wedding. The day started off with the Baraat (the symbolic journey of groom to home of the bride) in Battery Park. The families dressed in festive, traditional Indian attire and exchanged welcoming flower garlands (Milni) in front of Battery Gardens, where Dana and Rahul exchanged vows during both a Hindi and western ceremony. After the knot had been tied (literally!), the bride and groom, along with all of their guests, were ferried to Ellis Island, which had been reserved exclusively for this wedding, for an amazing reception. There was song and dance late into the evening with the lower Manhattan skyline and Lady Liberty always in view. No detail was left out and Dana & Rahul’s wedding was all their own!
